Q. Who's brought Music For Aardvarks to Long Island?
A. Performer, teacher and director Lisa Ammon has, that's who. Lisa is originally from Long Island and has spent the last 6 years teaching Music for Aardvarks in Westchester, NY . She brought Music for Aardvarks to Long Island in March of 2009. Most recently Lisa was the music and drama instructor at the Great Neck Estates Camp. Lisa directed the Youth Theatre Program at Temple Israel Center in White Plains, NY, directing "Children's Letters to God" along with productions of "Seussical the Musical", "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" and "Oliver". Before that, she was touring the west coast performing in A Christmas Carol, and the east coast performing children's theater. She has also performed Off Broadway at the York Theatre and Second Stage Theatre. Lisa has taught musical theater and acting to kids all over Westchester and New Jersey. She has her MFA in Acting from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. When Lisa is not acting and singing she is busy raising her own little Aardvarks, Juliette and Cosette.
Q. But what is Music For Aardvarks?
A. Music For Aardvarks is a rocking good time for kids and grown ups alike. Each class combines song, dance and rhythm in an interactive musical experience for all ages. The songs of Brooklyn musician and founder David Weinstone (a featured performer on Nick Jr) are told from a point of view that children immediately understand and respond to. Where big can be small and small can be big, kids just see things a bit differently and Music for Aardvarks is tuned right in. From a humble beginning in an East Village basement way back in 1997 to the current musical catalog of over 200 songs Aardvarks has kept feet stompi
ng, hands clapping and bottoms shaking from California clear out to Japan! Click here to learn even more about the fantastic history of Music For Aardvarks!
